  “Then what are we waiting for?” Edgar questions her as he pulls me into his arms for a kiss. “Hey, baby,” he greets me afterward.

  “Hi yourself. Ready for a few hours of trick or treating and haunted houses?”

  “Always,” he replies, sincerely. And we spend the evening as we do every Halloween, with our friends and family. Over the years, both groups have grown bigger, as has the diverse number of species in our magic community. In the spring, we’re going to my homeland for a visit, wanting our kids to learn about where they’re mommy came from. Both seem to be witches, yet Rune does have a knack for spells relating to nature.

  I wouldn’t change my life for anything in the world. It’s truly magical.
